Programmers are usually the ones who find it the hardest to log the time they spent on various tasks during their work day, and this happens because there are very few if any time tracking apps dedicated to helping developers create daily work reports.
Jirassic is a macOS application particularly suited to aid programmers to record their daily work, and it is designed to help you focus on your work and log your tasks once you've finished them, and not the other way around.
Jirassic runs in your Mac's menu bar, and it features two tabs, the "All tasks" and "Reports," dedicated to assisting you in adding your tasks once completed and to giving you an overview of all your logged work days, respectively.
You can generate Jira timesheets in a blink of an eye by copy pasting the daily logs available in the "Reports" tab at the end of each day, week or month, depending on your company's requirements.
At the moment, Jirassic's lacks automated timesheet submission to Jira, but the app is a work in progress, and, according to its developer, this feature will be added in a future release.
Moreover, Jirassic automatically tracks your Jira tasks and lunch breaks, and allows you to add code review sessions, daily scrum meetings and even wasted time (if any) to your daily work reports.
You can add new tasks manually by clicking on the "+" sign next to any entry in the task list and by using the jirassic command line utility.
Tasks are also added automatically when committing code to a Git repository using the Jit command line Git wrapper and when coming back to your computer (you will be asked to input the task you worked on while away).
It is also important to mention that Jirassic features iCloud backup capabilities and that it also comes with browser integration, which means that it will log the time you spend reviewing code or wasting time on Facebook with the help of an URL matching algorithm.
In a nutshell, if your company uses Jira, Git or code reviews, and you need a time tracking app capable of running silently in the background and helping you jot down your completed tasks once you complete them, then Jirassic is the perfect tool for the job.
