To-do apps don’t really need an introduction nowadays. You’ve seen all their features before in some form or another, but the way they are packaged and presented to the user can make all the difference.
2Do tries to squeeze a bunch of task management features into a simple, intuitive interface, and it does quite a good job of it. You get every tool you would expect from the most complex to-do apps, but it doesn’t feel cumbersome or overwhelming.
The great thing about 2Do is that it doesn’t require a thorough read-through of the user manual before you get started. The UI is intuitive, and you can easily figure out how all the main features are used. Add a task, set a few basic parameters, and you’re good to go. You’ll find everything you need in the main window.
As you get more comfortable with the app, you can learn to take advantage of its more advanced features as well. Start tagging, add actions, schedule recurring events, and group your tasks for accessibility.
You can split your tasks into multiple lists, add pictures and audio notes, set locations, create reminders, and add tags to easily categorize items. Related tasks can be organized into projects, and complex searches can be turned into smart lists that are always a click away.
You can now add macOS Actions to your tasks. These allow you to quickly call someone, send a message or mail, open a URL, trigger a Google search, and more.
If you’re busy and want to add a new task without switching to the app, you can use the Quick Entry hotkey, which brings up a task creation form independent of the main UI, even when the 2Do is running in the background.
You can’t really go wrong with this app. It does everything you would reasonably expect from a task manager, without the steep learning curve that often tags along. 2Do can be put to good use from the start, and it only gets more effective the more you learn to take advantage of it.
Mind you, it’s not exactly cheap, but you have a change to try it out before you need to decide on a purchase. And on the plus side, you won’t need to worry about another subscription, as you can get a permanent license with a one-time purchase.
