An Automator workflow designed to make it easier to create Windows friendly zip files on a Mac after you convert it into an OS X service. #Zip creator #Zip generator #Automator workflow #Compress #Archive #Compression
The archives created using WinZipper will automatically exclude hidden OS X files such as .DS_Store and will allow you to share clean zip archives with your friends and colleagues who use Windows computers.
To use the WinZipper workflow, you must first install it as an OS X service by double clicking on the WinZipper.workflow in the archive to open it in the Automator app.
Next you have to create a new OS X service by clicking on "New" in the Automator "File" menu and selecting "Service" in the dialog that will appear.
Once the new Service window opens, you need to select "files or folders" in the "Service receives selected" drop-down menu, and then drag the "Run AppleScript (Compressing)" Automator action from the Winzipper.workflow window in to the new Service window.
Now you just have to save the new service with any name you want (we'd recommend using WinZipper so that you'll know exactly what it does), and you can now create Windows friendly zip archives by selecting any files and folders, and clicking on the WinZipper entry in the contextual menu (you have to right click to open it on your Mac).
