Simple Voice Recorder (formerly Simple Recorder PRO) is a small audio recording utility that enables you to control everything through the status bar menulet or via its Dock icon. The app provides control over the input source, can produce MP3 and M4A files, and can upload the tracks to iCloud.

Once you launch the Simple Voice Recorder application, you get to see its icon both in the status bar and in the Dock, and you can access the app’s menu from both locations (fold down the Command key while clicking on the Dock icon to see the menu).

If you decide to work with the status bar menulet, you need to open the menu and select the start, pause, or stop options to manage the recording. On the other hand, you can start or stop the recording process by merely pressing the Simple Voice Recorder Dock icon.

In all cases, the Simple Voice Recorder status bar menulet will display a timer for the current recording and will prompt you for the output location. The recorder will keep track of multiple unsaved audio recordings that you can send to your drive at a later time.

From the Simple Voice Recorder menu, you get to specify the output format (M4A or MP3) or location (a particular folder or the iCloud Drive), but you also get control over the input source (the built-in microphone or the system sound). Worth mentioning is that Simple Voice Recorder is also able to work with the Sound Siphon third party app.

Simple Voice Recorder offers you the possibility to adjust the recording’s volume, to set the sample rate, or to establish the audio channel (mono or stereo). For your convenience, the recorder also allows you to define hotkeys for the frequently used functions.
