Rec'd For Mac

Rec'd is a minimalist OS X utility based on Node.js that aims to help you record live audio streams with minimal effort. The app can work with MP3 URLs or can extract the live stream from M3U files.

The Rec'd user interface is represented by a single panel where you must input the URL for the MP3 audio stream you want to record. You must setup the output MP3 file and the storage location before pressing the Record button.

Rec'd comes with a small timer that lets you know how long has been since you started the recording. When you think you don’t want to capture the audio anymore, press the red record button again and the process will stop.

Note that Rec'd can also handle M3U files: just drag and drop them on top of the app’s main window, and Rec'd will automatically extract the stream's URL.

Worth mentioning is that Rec'd solely deals with the recording process and does not allow you to listen to the audio stream while capturing. To learn when to start or stop the recording, you must rely on third party solutions that can playback live streams.

At the same time, Rec'd does not signal in any way that the app is indeed recording anything. As a result, it is advisable to create a small capture for that particular stream and play the output track in a media player to verify everything works well before trying to record longer audio files.

To sum up, Rec'd provides a simple solution for recording MP3 audio streams, even though it does not come with any preview or verification functions.
