Museeks is an alternative music player that comes with a minimalist user interface and is stripped down to essential capabilities. The player can handle popular audio file formats, such as MP3, MP4, M4A/AAC, WAV, OGG, and 3GPP.
To start using the Museeks player, you must begin by directing the utility to your music library: just add the respective folders in the appropriate Settings panel, and press the “Refresh Library” button to start the scanning process.
Museeks will automatically load the supported tracks, and you get to see their name, duration, artist, album, or genre. You can choose to play a track right away, add it to the queue, or assign it to a playlist via the contextual menu.
Additional customization options include the possibility to adjust the playback speed, switch to the dark interface theme, or enable the Sleep mode blocker tool.
Note that Museeks features a separate tab for managing playlists, and you must navigate to that area to give a relevant name to the newly created playlists. For your convenience, Museeks will automatically calculate the total duration of each playlist.
Museeks provides a separate panel for the queue list, and you get to manage the entries in the same intuitive manner: you get to remove tracks, clear the list altogether, or view the total playback duration.
Museeks sports a rather elementary playback controller: you get to start or pause the playback, skip to the previous or next track, adjust the volume level, or enable the shuffle or repeat mode.
At the same time, you get to see the playback progress, the total duration of the current track, and jump to a particular segment with a simple mouse click.
Museeks certainly gets the job done, as long as your music library uses one of the handful of supported file formats. The player includes everything your need to control the playback and allows you to work with playlists.
However, there are still small details to be handled, such as the fact that you cannot set the name of newly created playlists, or that all subsequent tracks in the list are automatically added to the queue, so all your previous adjustments are lost.
