MinimServer offers you the possibility to run a UPnP AV music sharing server without dealing with complicated settings. The app starts the server as soon as you provide the source folder for your music collection.
When you launch the MinimServer application for the first time, you are prompted for the location of your music folder. The utility will scan the directory right away, and you get to monitor the process in the MinimServer log window.
MinimServer comes with different logging modes (info, verbose, debug, or trace), provides details about the encountered errors, and lets you know if the server is currently running or not.
Keep in mind that the server can be stopped or restarted via the MinimServer status bar menu. The same menu enables you to rescan the source folders or choose to navigate to the server’s properties window.
Within the MinimServer Properties window, you can see the currently used content directories and add new ones, see and modify the server's name, the list of indexed tags, the tag options and format, and so on.
You get to see technical details about the server, such as the HTTP port used by the service, or the name of the log file. Via the MinimServer Packages tab, you have the option to deploy additional software, such as the MiniStreamer extension that facilitates audio streaming tasks.
Thanks to all the tag indexing customization options, the MinimServer utility provides intelligent browsing functions and can help you find tracks by applying multiple filters. Naturally, to use the server, you need to have a UPnP controller installed on the target device.
To sum up, MinimServer works right out of the box and offers you the possibility to start a UPnP music server based on your own audio collection in a matter of seconds.
What’s more, MinimServer can work with multiple content sources, allows the user to specify the tags that are to be indexed, which results into intelligent browsing. Thanks to the MinimServer logging, you can also identify the tracks that have tagging errors.
