The Ircam HEar app provides you an accurate reproduction of a stereo or surround mix and lets you use a pair of conventional stereo headphones.
Ircam HEar relies on proven technology to model the various phenomena that occur when playing back audio material through a loudspeaker system.
This allows monitoring a full surround mix in situations when a surround-capable environment is not available or practical.
Another typical use of HEar is doing precise checking of a mix, which is convenient with headphones as these provide a 'surgical' and very detailed, microscope-like rendering of the audio.
HEar can also prove very useful in a project studio context, and whenever noise isolation is a concern, as it helps achieving a more realistic sound environment.
System requirements
- VST (2.4), AU host or
- ProTools 8 or later
Limitations in the unregistered version
- 2 channels maximum processing (mono or stereo).
- 1 FS (32, 44.1, 48 Khz).
- No properties (parameters) published to the Host software. So your settings will not be saved in the host software project (composition).
- No Automations (so No Control surface supported).
- No Side-chain (for plugins that support side-chain).
- No presets Save/Recall, Import/Export (only factory preset can be loaded).
- This version is not time bombed but after half an hour of audio processing or UI utilization all the user interface controls will be disabled. The sound will still be processed, allowing you to continue working normally on your project but you will not be able to modify the settings until you restart the plug-in.
