Gokotta is an alternative music player that has been developed on the Electron and Vue.js platforms. The player comes with a user-friendly interface and can gather media content from multiple sources.

The Gokotta music player offers you the possibility to browse your music library in its main window, so you must start by directing the app to the folders that hold your music collection.

Worth mentioning is that you can add as many folders as you like and that you don’t have to manually select tracks. Just point out a particular directory, and Gokotta will  scan for compatible file formats and add the items to the library panel without any user interaction.

At the moment, Gokotta provides support for the MP3, AAC, and WAV audio formats, but keep in mind that the projects is still under development. The drawback is that the Gokotta player might not prove to be reliable in all cases.

Within the Gokotta main window, to start listening to a track, you must simply double click on the entry. The song will be automatically added to the queue, and only the tracks there will be played. However, the only method to put them in the queue is to actually play the tracks.

It is also important to put the tracks in order from the start because Gokotta does not allow you to rearrange them at a later time. In the bottom area of the Gokotta main window, you can monitor the playback progress, pause the song, or skip to the previous or next track.

To sum up, Gokotta provides a beautiful user interface for listening to music and browsing one’s songs collection, yet some basic capabilities are either missing or do not work properly. Nonetheless, monitoring the project's development might bring some nice surprises.
