Claviatura For Mac

Claviatura is an easy-to-use music sequencer for macOS with a vertical layout designed specifically for keyboard players. Basically, Claviatura enables you to edit musical notes and offers a MIDI keyboard input for training piano pieces.

With Claviatura, you can import audio files in the standard MIDI files, listen to them and then use the integrated piano interface to play along. The application offers support for external instrument formats, including sf2, EXS and Hauptwerk.

The user interface of the application consists of several elements. First of all, you have the note editor, then the keyboard player and several different panels: Controls, MIDI Player, Dynamics and Instruments.

Adding notes to Claviatura can be done in the vertical note layout by right-clicking or CMD-clicking on a column. To increase or decrease the duration of a note, simply drag it up or down while holding the right mouse button on it.

What’s more, you can even select multiple notes using the CMD and SHIFT keys, and their thickness can be adjusted via the Dynamics pane. In its turn, this pane can be accessed through the MIDI Player window.

Another feature integrated in the note editor is the MIDI channel. You can select MIDI channels, which are 16 in total, using SHIFT and the number keys, and assign notes via CMD + 1 to 0 and CMD + SHIFT + 1 to 6.

Some more control you have over the player includes changing the tempo, the time signatures and key signatures. You can also use different tunings that can be imported from MTX or scala files.

On the whole, Claviatura is nothing amazing in terms of macOS music sequencers, but it does provide a nice bunch of features, intuitive user interface and an affordable price tag.
