iTeleport Inc. today offers an updated version of the company’s remote desktop (VNC & RDP) software for iPhone and iPad customers, adding new features and fixes, including a patch for the relatively old Heartbleed bug.

One of 2014’s most widely reported vulnerabilities, Heartbleed is a flaw that security researchers discovered in the OpenSSL architecture that ensures (or should ensure) that data is transmitted safely over the web between different parties, without allowing third parties to intercept and interpret that data.

Addressed with the release of a patch (OpenSSL to 1.0.1g) almost two weeks after being reported, Heartbleed is still present in some systems that haven't yet received the new OpenSSL implementation, including iTranslate on iOS. Customers who haven’t updated to version 6.2.3 are still vulnerable, according to the developers.

In addition to patching the Heartbleed flaw, iTranslate 6.2.3 includes the option to export and import manually configured servers via Email, adds in-session gesture hints for improved usability, Box cloud file caching for faster file access, app localization for Russian and Japanese customers, and other bug fixes.

Download iTeleport Remote Desktop – VNC & RDP on any iDevice with iOS 5.1 installed. The software sells for $24.99 in the United States and goes for €21.99 across Europe. Customers in the UK will pay £17.49 for the remote-computing app.
