A wind turbine inspector named Joby Ingram-Dodd dropped his iPhone 4S from a height of 200 feet (60 meters). After reaching the ground to collect it, he received a phone call on the bashed device, and was even able to check his Facebook.

The incredible story comes via Cult of Mac, which reveals that Joby uses his iPhone’s camera to take photos during his inspections of wind turbines. The last time he tried to pull out the gadget, it slipped out of his pocket and fell 200 feet (60 meters) onto the hard concrete below.

The guy put his job first, so he kept on working. When he was done with his inspection, he proceeded to descend and collect his device, which he thought was completely destroyed. Not exactly so.

When he finally got back to the ground, he found the device bashed up and with the screen shattered, but it was “still basically in one piece,” according to Joby.

“Looking at it the screen still worked and I could swipe to answer check my emails, go to Facebook, in fact it works fine, even the camera still works,” he said.

“It just shows how well built these phones are, any other phone would have splintered into hundreds of bit with a fall from that height,” added Joby.
