A report that bodes well with rumors about Samsung exiting A8 chip production states that Apple will have Qualcomm make LTE chips for its next-generation iPhone.

The gist of it is that Samsung is having yield problems with the A8 chip and Apple doesn’t have the time to mess around trying to find ways to put an LTE modem in a chip that's already hard to make in bulk quantities.

According to a report, the Cupertino giant has completely shifted A8 chip production to TSMC and will rely on Qualcomm to supply a separate LTE SoC (system on a chip).

According to the Fudzilla report, “Our well informed industry sources are quite sure that Apple is not working on its own LTE modem [...] Apple will continue to use Qualcomm’s external LTE chip for next iPhone...”

The launch date for Apple’s iPhone 6 remains unknown at this point, but most bets are on the September quarter.
