As Apple re-enables Personal Pickup option, no handsets are available

Well this is a bit ironic. Apple has reinstated Personal Pickup on its web store interface only to let customers know that the iPhone 5s is (drumroll) “unavailable for pickup.”

That’s right. We’re hearing Apple last week flipped the switch a tad too early on Personal Pickup, and now when it was finally scheduled to go live as planned, there are no more iPhones in sight (at some stores).

Of course, it’s not the type of irony that hurts Apple’s bottom line for this fiscal quarter. The Cupertino giant sold 9 million of these babies, including iPhone 5c models, in just the first weekend following the ceremonious launch.

As I reported earlier today, while any iPhone 5s order is scheduled to ship in October, iPhone 5c orders get fulfilled in 24 hours. But hey, Gold is best right?
