The next-generation iPhone from Apple is getting OTP (one time programmable) non-volatile memory, according to sources in the Far East.

Cited by the hit-and-miss trade publication DigiTimes, “industry sources” in the China region said, “eMemory is delivering its OTP IP products for driver ICs and power management (PWM) ICs to be used by the next-generation iPhones.”

The memory chips will be manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) using an 80nm process. Dialog Semiconductor will handle the delivery of PWM ICs.

eMemory also provides solutions for Samsung’s Galaxy S4 and MediaTek's MTK6577 smartphones.

Apple is expected to unveil a new generation of iPhones – possibly including not one, but two fresh models – in the months to follow.

While some analysts have found indications that the announcement could be made at WWDC 2013 (in June), the consensus is that Apple will unveil its new iPhone range at a special event in the September-October timeframe.
