Rumor has it that T-Mobile could start selling the new iPhone 5 as soon as the first months of 2013, a move that would also increase the number of sold iPhones in the US by up to 2 million.

Citing a Morgan Stanley analyst, CNET writes that T-Mobile could thus become a powerful player in the U.S. wireless market, although the company is yet to comment on these new rumors.

At this moment, T-Mobile is the only major U.S. carrier that’s not selling the iPhone, but the firm has already launched a campaign trying to attract unlocked iPhone owners.

What’s more, T-Mobile is also developing iOS versions of its applications, including T-Mobile Visual Voicemail, T-Mobile TV and T-Mobile myAccount, which could be the most obvious sign that the iPhone may really be sold in its stores very soon.
