Comments made by the chairman of Catcher Technology, a maker of enclosures for electronic devices, reveal that Apple is preparing a second-generation iPad mini, as rumored.
Although there have been a lot of rumors of a Retina iPad mini 2, there haven’t been many leaks to support this theory. In fact, there hasn’t been much indication that Apple was working on a second-generation model, except for the tablet’s popularity, that is.
Now Catcher Technology, the maker of iPad cases, confirms its existence through comments made by the company’s chairman at a shareholder meeting this week.
DigiTimes reports (emphasis ours), “Metal-alloy chassis maker Catcher Technology expects consolidated revenues for the second half of 2013 to hike on year by 30% due to shipments for the new-generation iPad mini and orders from new clients, company chairman Hung Shui-shu said at the 2013 shareholder meeting on June 13.”
Apple could unveil the iPad mini 2 this fall alongside the company’s next-generation iPhone. The fifth-generation full-size iPad is expected to arrive around the same time, but Apple could save that announcement for next year.
