14 DAY TRIAL // Accessory maker G-Form has released a video featuring an iPad encased in the company’s 6oz Extreme Edge flying off into space and then free-falling back to Earth. The tablet computer survived the 100,000-foot fall.
Thom Cafaro, G-Form’s VP of innovations, says his company is usually known for making the most protective gear on the planet, “so we decided why not raise the bar to off the planet too.”
The company released the above video on Thursday. The Apple tablet is lifted by a weather balloon which bursts once it reaches an altitude of 100,000 feet. The iPad can be seen free-falling to Earth where it crash lands on a rocky hillside in Nevada.
According to the developers of the 60z Extreme, the device remained fully functional after its trip to outer space. G-Form will be exhibiting its entire range of products at CES 2012.
