Everyone wants to know what the next iPad looks like and what it does. While most of us can only speculate, well-connected analysts such as KGI Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo can actually ask around and get some solid facts.

After checking with his supply chain sources, Kuo reported in a research note, “We think the tablet will, at 7.5-8.0mm, be 15% thinner than iPad 4.”

He added, “The new device will likely be about 500 grams, or some 25% lighter than iPad 4.”

Kuo expects the iPad 5 to boast an A7X processor (even though Apple has yet to introduce the A7), as well as “cameras with similar specs to the iPad 4’s (front HD, rear 5MP),” he said.

As far as the enclosure is concerned, the color offerings will remain unchanged (silver and black), and Kuo expects a narrow bezel design similar to the iPad mini’s.
