Apple is said to be taking its time rolling out iOS 7.1, but people who are familiar with the company’s developments already have details regarding the upcoming iOS 8, likely to debut alongside a new iPhone next year.

This information is not 100% new, but a new report from 9to5mac reinforces rumors that Apple will place a great deal of focus on Maps and sensors in its upcoming iOS software revision.

Otherwise, there would be some other features sticking out. But no. For the past two months, the sources who are reportedly familiar with the software are telling the site that “As soon as iOS 8, Apple plans to further enhance its mapping and car-integration functionality.”

The same sources are cited as saying, “Apple is working on an updated Maps app with indoor mapping and transit directions functionality [and that] the company is also testing ways to integrate the iPhone’s sensors with the in-car dashboard systems.”
