At this point it’s pretty clear not everyone loves iOS 7. Many downright hate the new design, whether it’s the wireframe Control Center or the fantasy-world color palette replacing the more solid iOS 6 chromatics.

Personally, I have mixed feelings about the software. I find it fresh, but a bit oversimplified in some departments. Some apps have been de-cluttered to such a high degree that they just feel empty.

In other areas, I love the cleanness achieved by Jony Ive. Such is the Notes app, which really feels like a simple note-taking app in iOS 7. Control Center is also a brilliant addition, albeit not my favorite, mainly because I’m poor-sighted.

But what about those icons? Was it really necessary to strip them of all their realistic ornaments? Take, for instance, the Compass icon from iOS 6, and then look at the new Compass icon in iOS 7. I don’t know about you, but I’ll take the old one any day of the week.

The designers have had their say, and now it’s time to let regular users speak their mind. Use the comments to chime in with your own take on the redesigned iconography. Which icons do you hate, and which ones do you love?
