“When screen real estate is at a premium iOS 7 shines,” says Chris Harris, App director

Chris Harris from Code Into Light seems to agree with designers from all over the world that iOS 7 is half baked. However, after slapping the minimalistic UI on a square iPod nano’s screen, he had a change of heart.

To be clear on one thing, the image above doesn’t actually depict iOS 7 running on the old iPod nano. Harris merely cropped some iOS 7 imagery and pasted it over an iPod nano promotional material (the original is to the right).

“I decided to see how the iOS7 interface faired on the old iPod Nano screen. When screen real estate is at a premium iOS 7 shines,” Harris believes.

He goes to explain that, while he’s no designer, he always favors clarity over style.

“Notice how the overly enlarged Safari circle, which some have called wrong, actually works really well in this particular situation,” he points out.

Indeed, iOS 7 seems to make a lot of sense on a small display. I’m sure it would look just as great on the latest version of the iPod nano, which sports a 2.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen Multi-Touch display.
