On August 17, Apple has just released a new version of its Digital Camera RAW software, version 6.06, a substantial update bringing support for six new digital cameras to the Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite operating system.

According to the brief release notes, Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 6.06 introduces support for Canon PowerShot G3 X, Leica Q (Typ 116), Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GX8, Sony Alpha ILCE-7R II, Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 II, and Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 IV.

"This update adds RAW image compatibility for the following cameras to OS X Yosemite," reads today's announcement on the Apple Support website. "For more information on supported RAW formats, see https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203088."

Therefore, if you're running any of the OS X 10.10 Yosemite versions up to the newly released 10.10.5 update, and you want to use one of the digital cameras mentioned above to import your photos, you should update the Digital Camera RAW software to version 6.06 right now.

To update, simply open up the Mac App Store application, go to the "Updates" tab, wait for the Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 6.06 software to appear in the list of updates, and then press the "Update" button in front of it. Wait for the update to be applied.

That's it, you can now use the aforementioned digital cameras on OS X Yosemite. You can also download the DMG installer for Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 6.06 right now from Softpedia if you don't see the update on the Mac App Store.
