Indiegogo project aims to put wireless charging solutions in the hands of iPhone owners

Apple’s iPhone currently doesn’t support wireless (inductive) charging, but all that might change relatively soon if this Indiegogo project picks up steam and manages to raise enough funds for the iQi to go into production.

iQi doesn’t strap an external battery and a bulky case onto your iDevice, like other wireless charging solutions will. Instead, it just comes as a wireless charging “receiver” which you slap on the back of your phone.

Once fitted onto your Lightning-enabled device, you can begin charging by placing the iPhone/iPod touch on any Qi-compatible charging pad. The video above will show exactly how it works.

Granted, the solution is not perfect. It needs to be plugged into your iPhone’s Lightning connector at all times, and you also need a case to keep it stuck to the back of your phone. That, or you can stick it with scotch tape or whatever you please, but you might ruin the aesthetics of your phone.
