Trans International has announced the iSchmutz, a curiously-dubbed filtration system designed exclusively for Mac Pro computers. It’s said to be a first for the Apple workstations.

The company says, “this relatively inexpensive unit removes most dirt, dust and pollen before it can enter the computer, preventing malfunctions and breakdowns caused by overheating and short circuits begun by the buildup of dust.”

This oversized dish sponge is not even remotely inexpensive at $24.99, and you have to take Trans International’s promise that “By covering up the front grill of the Mac Pro, all air that's brought into the computer for cooling purposes will be filtered of most dirt, dust, and pollen that would normally create a problematic insulating layer.”

It also makes your Mac Pro ugly as sin. This thing looks like a five-year-old’s cutout for a Halloween costume. It’s the equivalent of Zorro’s mask for workstations.

In all fairness, the accessory is said to lengthen the life of your Mac Pro by lowering its internal temperature and keeping your Mac’s cooling system from clogging up. If that means saving hundreds on replacement hard drives, memory, fans, etc. then yeah sure, the iSchmutz makes total sense.

But the name is hilarious.
