Vienna, the powerful RSS reader for Macintosh computers, is about to drop support for old OS X versions, according to the release notes included with Vienna 3.0.0 Beta 16.

The development team doesn’t make it very clear which of the older OS X versions are being discontinued in Vienna 3.0.0 Beta 16.

The release notes seem to mix up Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5) with Snow Leopard (version 10.6 of the operating system). Nonetheless, this tidbit makes it clear that at least OS X Tiger (10.4) will no longer be supported when Vienna 3.0.0 Final ships (updated, see below).

The new beta also delivers improved speed (thanks to a new database wrapper), fixed Unified display view problems, fixes for iframes/videos which did not display, improved date conversion routine, and some other bug fixes.

Both the latest beta and the latest stable version (2.7.0) of Vienna can be downloaded via the link below.

Update: The Vienna Team clarifies that the RSS app is now compatible with "Mac OS Snow Leopard (10.6) or later only," which means Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard will be left out when Vienna 3.0.0 Final ships.
