VideoLAN has announced the release of VLC Player 2.1.4 for Mac, Windows, and Linux users with a specific focus on OS X Mavericks.

VLC Player 2.1.4 addresses an issue in WMV with multiple compressed payload and empty payloads, and fixes subtitles size rendering on Windows computers.

For Mac users in particular, the update fixes DVD playback regression, misleading error messages during video playback on OS X Mavericks, and some hardware acceleration memleaks.

About an hour ago, Felix Paul Kühne revealed on Twitter that VLC 2.1.4 was coming out with a specific focus on “modern Macs.” Alongside the new build, VideoLAN promised a 2.0.10 update for PowerPC Mac users on Leopard.

The downloads will be ready shortly at the links below. Be patient, they’ve only just begun rolling out the binaries.
