VideoLAN has announced VLC 2.0.6 for all supported platforms, an important update for users of the multimedia player which delivers a ton of improvements, including a lot of bug fixes for Mac users.

Unfortunately, the VLC 2.0.6 DMG file isn’t yet available for download, but here’s what you can expect (when it’s released).

On the Mac, the subtitle rendering resolution is fixed when using OS X's native fullscreen mode, and the fullscreen controller time slider has been improved with a larger click target.

Listing of the lua interfaces (web, telnet and console) has been fixed in the advanced preferences panel, and the spatializer audio filter panel has also been improved.

A crash would occur within the video output code in certain circumstances, and there was a BDMV folder selection issue on OS X Mountain Lion that is now addressed. Also, VLC can now be associated with .dvdmedia packages.

We’ll let you know when VLC 2.0.6 OS X is released. You’ll be able to download it at the link below.
