The Tor Browser Bundle version 3.5.3 is out for Mac, Windows, and Linux users who prefer a safer approach to surfing the web. This new update is based on Mozilla’s Firefox 24.4 Extended Support Release (ESR).

As power users undoubtedly know, Mozilla offers an Extended Support Release (ESR) based on a relatively new Firefox build for desktop for use by organizations, ranging from schools and universities to businesses and other groups who need extended support for mass deployments.

TOR Browser Bundle 3.5.3 arrives with Firefox to 24.4.0 ESR packaged inside, as well as with an update for the NoScript extension to version 2.6.8.17.

The NoScript extension provides extra protection for several Firefox-based browsers, including Seamonkey. It’s a free, open source add-on that allows JavaScript, Java, Flash, and other plugins to be executed only by trusted sites. You choose those sites and then access things like your cash balance in a laid-back manner.

NoScript also provides the most powerful anti-XSS and anti-Clickjacking protection, and thanks to its whitelist-based pre-emptive script blocking approach, it can prevent exploitation of security vulnerabilities (even some unknown ones) with no compromises made on functionality.

The bundle comes with an update to Tor 0.2.4.21 and various bug fixes, which you can read about in the changelog.
