Curiosity got the best of one reviewer who unlocked the phone with his feet

Apple never said this in the marketing materials of the iPhone 5s, but tests have shown that you can set up the Touch ID sensor even with a toe.

Normally, your iPhone 5s would prefer that you unlock it with the opposable thumb that nature came up with over eons of evolutionary permutations. But the Touch ID fingerprint recognition is so efficient it even works for your feet.

The discovery was made by reviewer Scott Stein, over at Cnet:

“The Touch ID-enabled home button feels invisible; it works with a tap, can recognize your finger from many angles, and feels like it has less of a fail rate than fingerprint sensors I’ve used on laptops. It’s impressive tech. It worked on all my fingers, and even my toe (I was curious).”

Since we’re on the topic, I can tell you right now that everyone seems very impressed with the new hardware. Unlike previous years, the reviews are surprisingly positive, despite the fact that many people expected more from Apple’s September 10 event.
