Square Enix has released Tomb Raider I, the original PlayStation game, for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, giving diehard fans a chance to relive the blocky quest for the broken ancient artifact known as the Scion.

The plot remains unchanged. Lara Croft gets hired to recover broken pieces of an ancient artifact, a mission which takes her to the lost city of Atlantis and the ancient Egyptian pyramids.

“Adventurer Lara Croft has been hired to recover the pieces of an ancient artefact known as the Scion. With her fearless acrobatic style she runs, jumps, swims and climbs her way towards the truth of its origin and powers – leaving only a trail of empty tombs and gun-cartridges in her wake.”

Newcomers will probably laugh at the blocky graphics, but longtime fans are going to love the chance to revisit the game that started it all. And considering how many hours of gameplay this title offers, $0.99 / €0.89 is really a bargain.

You can download Tomb Raider I on any iDevice with iOS 7.0 installed.
