A teenager from Los Angeles got run over by a car and later died from injuries after trying to fend off several people who attempted to steal his iPad.

Local police issued a preliminary report according to which Marcos Vincente Arenas, 15, was walking alone carrying an iPad in his hand when a person approached him and tried to snatch the tablet from his hands.

Resisting the theft, Arenas reportedly got dragged to the vehicle, “and the suspect got back into the SUV with the teen still grasping at the tablet or somehow being held by the suspect,” according to the Las Vegas Sun.

Arenas was still at the passenger door when the car took off, at which point he fell down and got struck by the heavy vehicle.

The teen was rushed to the University Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
