“Replacing an iPhone with an interactive terminal on your wrist is difficult,” he says

Swatch Chief Executive Officer Nick Hayek doesn’t think Apple’s rumored iWatch could replace the iPhone, adding, “I don’t believe it’s the next revolution.”

Hayek’s comments may or may not hold water. But the problem is not the CEO’s answer. Rather, it’s the question that he was likely responding to.

According to Bloomberg, “Hayek said he’s skeptical that an interactive watch could replace an iPhone.” Who said anything about iWatches replacing our iPhones?

“Personally, I don’t believe it’s the next revolution,” the Swatch CEO is quoted as saying. “Replacing an iPhone with an interactive terminal on your wrist is difficult. You can’t have an immense display.”

The “revolution” thing remains to be seen. After all, there have been other brilliant minds who shot down the iPhone and the iPad before they came out to disrupt the market.

But Mr. Hayek is right about one thing. An iWatch will never replace the iPhone. And the iWatch rumors never said anything about replacing bigger screens.
