Subjects are selected by an advisory committee of ordinary citizens

Starting next year, the United States folk will be able to purchase stamps with Steve Jobs’ face on them. If paper mail even exists anymore in 2015.

The Verge reveals that US postage stamp subjects are selected by an advisory committee of regular people. Since 1957, these people have been “look[ing] for suggestions that are ‘contemporary, timely, relevant, interesting and educational’” and pick someone who fits this criteria. Steve Jobs was one of them.

It isn’t immediately clear what Steve Jobs photo will be used for the stamp model, but it’s reasonable to assume they’ll be using Jobs’ most famous photo of him with his thumb pressed against his chin, piercing stare and neatly trimmed beard.

Others probably prefer images of a younger Steve Jobs, such as the one where he flips off IBM. Personally, I think the image above is the most stamp-worthy photo of Jobs.
