Awesome new hardware from Valve will let you play your favorite shooter, mouse-free

You know that alien-tech controller that Valve is scrambling to build for its Steam Machine? Yeah, it’s coming to the Mac as well, and boy is it going to be awesome!

Last week, Valve posted a demonstration video of its Steam Controller using various games that can be found on Steam, including my own favorite, Portal 2.

I don’t know about you guys but I love the convenience of playing a game via game pad, as opposed to stretching my arms across a desk to use not one, but two peripherals.

And the Steam Controller seems to be the first-ever game pad that can truly replace this control method for playing shooters, adventure games, even quest titles which are heavily reliant on the point-and-click solution that Steve Jobs "borrowed" from Xerox Parc decades ago.

Ranting aside, Valve’s Steam Controller will support every Steam game that works on the Mac. I’m keeping a bottle of cold champagne really close for when this thing ships.
