Reeder, the handy news application that syncs with your Google reader account (still), is free to download for Mac OS X. The same goes for the iPad installment, but only until version 2.0 rolls out.

Developer Silvio Rizzi has issued a brief announcement informing iOS customers that the iPhone installment of Reeder already has support for services other than Google Reader.

Rizzi is working to integrate Feedbin, as well as to add support for standalone/local RSS which he calls “still experimental.” These features are coming in update 3.1, “which should be ready soon.”

The developer then adds, “Reeder for Mac and iPad will be updated to 2.0 in the coming months. Version 2.0 will add all the features of the iPhone version, including all sharing and syncing services. Until then, Reeder for Mac and Reeder for iPad will be free, starting today.”
