Pinterest has announced on its blog a nice little update for desktop users that involves the new Push Notifications enhancement in Safari 7.0, available with OS X Mavericks.

Pinterest users who enjoy spending a great deal of their time in front of their computers now have the ability to get real-time updates, like when someone comments on their Pin, in a much more efficient manner (as shown in the screenshot above).

The only requirement is Safari 7.0 (available with the freely-downloadable Mavericks, from the Mac App Store). And since many of you have already made the jump to Mavericks, all you need to do is visit Pinterest in Safari and accept to receive the notifications.

“Similar to the push notifications you might see on your iPhone or iPad, you can see alerts in the upper right of your desktop screen,” explains Pinterest.
