General purpose utility OnyX has been promoted to version 2.8.3, a new stable release of the tool used by numerous Mac aficionados to perform complex optimization, maintenance, and customization tasks.

Available as a free download for all Mac users, OnyX takes system tweaking to the ultimate level with a variety of options and preferences that are unavailable with a newly installed OS X.

Now at version 2.8.3, the all-in-one system utility offers improved deletion of logs and diagnostic reports, and sports new options to change a notification’s display delay, show/hide the iBooks Debug menu, turn on/turn off the interface Leopard style, tone down the Dock's opaqueness, and toggle the Safari Debug menu on and off.

The Color Picker application has been added in the Utilities > Applications pane and the parameters pane has been improved. There’s a new preference to display OnyX messages in the Notification Center, and the program now uses a new version of sqlite3.

Other changes include the addition of Chinese Simplified translations, and temporary deleted trash tab (including in the Automation pane). Some bugs have bee addressed as well.

Mac users can download OnyX on pretty much any configuration, but only the newest OS X versions can take advantage of the latest features.
