All AccuWeather users now have instant access to AccuWeather MinuteCast, the global minute-by-minute precipitation forecast with pinpoint accuracy, in the same app. The iPad binary has been discontinued in favor of a universal app for both iPhone and iPad.

Available immediately as a free download for all iDevice users running iOS 8, AccuWeather – Weather for Life now has optimized layouts for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, and iPad. The update was actually released a while ago, but the developers only announced the new version recently.

The upgrade to a universal binary suitable for all screen sizes has marked the discontinuation of AccuWeather for iPad. Now everyone will be downloading the same app, regardless of device type.

MinuteCast has improved usability, including a shortcut to reference the radar map on the spot. Several improvements have also been made to the Today Extension widgets, such as synchronization of the in-app C/F setting, and other stuff.

The AccuWeather App provides severe weather notices, animations of the cited weather forecast, and even a 15-day forecast. Weather radar is available for the United States, Canada, Northern Europe, and Japan. Other cool stuff accessible in the AccuWeather iOS app includes a feature called Local Forecast Summary, which gives you a rundown of what you can expect from the weather over the next 3-5 days, and summary widgets.
