In a rare move, the fruity company headquartered in Cupertino, California has issued a press release today announcing availability of a developer preview for OS X 10.8 dubbed Mountain Lion - “the ninth major release of the world’s most advanced operating system.”

Touting a slew of new features like Messages, Notes, Reminders Game Center, Notification Center, Share Sheets, Twitter integration, and AirPlay, Mirroring, Apple confirmed that Mountain Lion would be available to the general population this summer. Mac users will be able to grab the new Lion by the tail through the Mac App Store.

From Apple’s official announcement (emphasis ours):

“The preview release of Mountain Lion is available to Mac Developer Program members starting today. Mac users will be able to upgrade to Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store in late summer 2012.
