Accessory maker Bodyguardz says the market has been extremely vocal on matters involving the curved iPhone 6 display, and how it’s prone to shattering if dropped on hard surfaces.

Customers who previously reaped the benefits of plastic films or tempered screen protectors are unable to apply the same accessories to the iPhone 6. Bodyguardz decided to address the problem by throwing in a little extra part.

According to the company, the Crown is a patent pending solution that was designed to protect the curved edges of smartphones like the iPhone 6.

“It is a custom-molded rim made of anodized aluminum, designed to fit seamlessly with ScreenGuardz Pure to offer an elegant protective solution unlike anything seen before,” says the company.

The ScreenGuardz Pure is a high-strength screen protector made from tempered glass. It’s not curved, but it does cover most of the display, leaving the curved areas to be handled by the aluminum frame. In addition to protecting the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the crown is also able to offer protection for the Samsung Note 4.

The Crown for iPhone 6 will be available in February 2015 for $35 (€29.55). The version designed to support the bigger iPhone 6 Plus will retail for $40 (€33.77). There’s no “buy” button for the Crown just yet, but it shouldn’t be long before Bodyguardz starts to take orders.
