Pebble, the company behind the popular smartwatch with the same name, has released an updated SDK labeled as “the next stage of the platform enabling two-way communication between Pebble and the smartphone.”

Registered developers can visit developer.getpebble.com and grab the new SDK immediately. It’s free of charge and now enables third parties to develop watchapps that “send and receive information from a connected smartphone.”

Through this update Pebble is paving the way for the emergence of watchapps that “receive weather or traffic information, act as remote controls for a phone or internet-connected device, or display bitcoin prices,” according to the company.

The possibilities are endless, as these are just a few scarce examples. Plus, Pebble promises to continue improving the platform by adding more features.
