Mozilla has just released Firefox 29 Stable and is now putting the finishing touches on version 30 (currently in beta), as testers work their way through the first Aurora 31 builds, now available for download on Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux computers.

Released minutes ago for testing and development purposes, Mozilla Firefox 31.0a2 Aurora is the second alpha-grade build in the 31 branch.

Mozilla delves right in with a wide range of code corrections, such as: “when a pointing device that supports hover leaves the range of the digitizer while over an element, the pointerleave event must be dispatched [...] fix an IPC leak by clearing MessageChannel resource before destruction; expose subdecoder's owner to avoid breaking DXVA decoding in MSE; [and] disallow seeking SourceBufferResource to offsets that have been evicted from the input buffer.”

The update further fixes ContainsTime in SourceBuffer, allowing for gaps to emerge in time ranges, and sets MediaSource duration when read by MediaSourceReader. The new build will also try to avoid copying data in GetSourceSurfaceForSurface. These and other geeky fixes and tweaks can be found in the official seed notes accompanying the Aurora build.
