Apple’s latest television ad created with the purpose of promoting the iPhone 4S has been deemed as the most effective commercial of this holiday season by Ace Metrix, a TV ad analysis firm.

Via GigaOm comes word that Ace Metrics said the TV spot exemplified a big trend this year: “Santa sells.”

The analysis firm scored this year’s holiday ads via a selection of random viewers which, according to their report, were “representative of the U.S. TV viewing audience.”

The Santa ad promoting Siri, the key feature in the iPhone 4S, scored 652 points out of a total possible 950 points. Criteria included  relevance, persuasion, watchability, and information, but there were others as well.

Apple’s score was reportedly 8 percent higher than the average score for ads in the same category (tech-oriented) according to GigaOm.
