Apple no longer facing scrutiny from French anti-racism groups

Following the removal of an iPhone app called "Jew or not Jew?" from circulation, Apple made peace with French anti-racism groups who dropped a lawsuit against the Cupertino giant that had been initially filed for approving the app on iTunes in the first place.

Reports worldwide quote Lawyer Stephane Lilti, representing four anti-racism associations, as saying that the decision was "motivated by the removal of the application in all countries of the world."

The app's designer, Johann Levy, removed the app himself, with Lilti saying that the complaint "had beneficial effects" in the end. Apple was not immediately open to comments on the matter.

In September the app’s developer said in an interview that he had developed the app for  “recreational” purposes. “…as a Jew myself I know that in our community we often ask whether a such-and-such celebrity is Jewish or not," Le Parisien quoted Levy as saying.
