J.D. Power and Associates has released the J.D. Power and Associates 2012 U.S. Wireless Smartphone Customer Satisfaction Study--Volume 2 and the J.D. Power and Associates 2012 U.S. Wireless Traditional Mobile Phone Satisfaction Study--Volume 2, giving Apple Inc. the highest score in smartphone customer satisfaction.

For the eighth consecutive year, Apple scored the highest customer satisfaction among smartphone manufacturers, achieving a score of 849 and “well” performance on all levels.

J.D. Power and Associates particularly noted that Apple, which plans to come out with a new iPhone next week, excels “in physical design and ease of operation.” HTC was just behind Apple with a score of 790 points.

Both studies, fielded between January and June 2012, were based on experiences reported by 8,736 smartphone owners and 6,272 users of “traditional” mobile phones, said J.D. Power.

Uma Jha, senior director of mobile devices at J.D. Power and Associates, said "As the capabilities of wireless phones and their applications continue to expand, allowing customers to more often use their device, handset manufacturers have an opportunity to shape the customer experience and impact satisfaction with better application integration and social networking options.”
