Devs can “smuggle in malicious code designed to exploit your shiny Apple gadget”

Former security analyst at Sophos, Graham Cluley is sounding the alarm on potential malware threats hitting Apple’s iOS operating system in the near future, using as an example the GBA emulator app I reported on yesterday.

Cluley is now his own boss, but he still maintains a blog where he dishes out information on the latest security threats in the IT world.

He caught wind of that GameBoy emulator we talked about yesterday, which Apple (not surprisingly) has removed from the App Store.

Cluley acknowledges that most mobile malware resides in the Android camp, “and Apple generally does a much better job of vetting the apps it makes available than Google.”

However, according to Cluley’s judgment, “if app developers are able to sneak an emulator into their iPhone apps, they could also (potentially) smuggle in malicious code designed to exploit your shiny Apple gadget.”
