Apple is laying out the necessary details and instructions for users looking to subscribe to the music-matching service introduced in iTunes 10.5.1 - iTunes Match.

Those wanting to subscribe are looking at a $24.99 annual fee, OS X Lion or Windows Vista as system requirements, and a few notes and restrictions regarding file uploads. Just like Automatic Downloads, when you subscribe to iTunes Match, your device / computer will be associated with your Apple ID, according to Apple’s technical note.

The Mac maker provides a complete set of instructions on how to subscribe to iTunes Match, as well as an extensive set of details about the service. For example, you can only upload 25,000 songs, but the good news is that purchases made with the same Apple ID being used for iTunes Match do not count towards that limit.

Song files over 200 MB will not be uploaded to iCloud, says Apple. All the nuts and bolts about subscribing to iTunes Match are here.
