Normal waiting time for approval is ten days on average

French developer nice-matin decided to support the “Je suis Charlie” movement with a free app for iPhone and iPad that allows users to feel solidarity as they simply state where they stand on today's world map.

It’s a simple yet brilliant tool that allows anyone to fight for the freedom of speech following a series of widely-reported terrorist attacks in France last week. The only problem with any brilliant app is that it takes roughly ten days to have one approved, and in the case of this particular title, this was not an option. Ten days from now, most of the “Charlie” hype will have evaporated.

Perhaps the second brilliant move made by developer nice-matin was to send a personal email to Apple CEO Tim Cook to kindly ask him to speed up the review process. The developer soon received a phone call from Apple Support with confirmation that “Je suis CHARLIE!” for iPhone would be approved within an hour.

You can download Je suis CHARLIE! yourself from the supplied link. “We will show we stand united together across the world,” says nice-matin. All you need is an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad running iOS 7. Apparently it’s not even localized in French, but the GUI also doesn’t feature too much text, so it’s understandable.
