NowhereElse.fr have sourced a new batch of images depicting the iPhone 5’s docking cable, this time next to a micro-USB cable to highlight some similarities (mainly the size). Don’t worry, chances are you won’t be able to charge your iPhone via micro-USB, but the comparison is relevant, nonetheless.
Some close-ups show a meticulously-designed plug that features eight pins. The ninth connector is the outer metal shell.
Apple’s future iDevices are said to employ this new 9-pin standard starting with the iPhone 5, which Apple plans to launch this week.
A rumored iPad mini is said to be in the works for an October unveiling. If all rumors are correct, the iPad mini should be Apple’s second device featuring this standard.
